Today there are unfortunately so many things pulling at us constantly. Technology, your job, your family, your own to-do list… But how often do we engage in things that truly keep us feeling balanced and filled with joy?
Keep whats truly important your priority in your day
It’s easy to get pulled throughout your day with your own expectations. How you might have thought the day would go impacts your perspective of what the day really was. I find it helpful to be intentional behind my thought of what holds the highest importance in my day. I try to not engage in anything else until I finish that thing. Whatever that may be for me! When that is done, I freely give energy to the next thing. What’s even better is my mind is now cleared because I got my #1 priority out of the way.
Spend at least 30 mins off your phone first thing in the morning
This is challenging for me but I can truly feel the difference in my day if I fail to do it. In the mornings I always need to pray, read my bible and make sure I acknowledge my loved ones before I pick up my phone and look at emails or social media. I feel that this reminds me what my true focus is in my day and allows me to set pure intentions for the day ahead of me. I also notice I get less annoyed or frustrated at traffic or the small nuisances that may come my way throughout the morning.
Eat a healthy breakfast
I love the occasional pancakes but honestly, they don’t fuel your body as they should. Yummy healthy options like avocado toast are a must for me! When I don’t eat healthy, by 12 pm I’m ready for a nap alongside my sleepy toddler LOL . I would much rather have the energy to take him to the park or go to the gym during his naps!
Find time to speak with someone or do something that makes you feel joy
I try to take a few minutes out of my day to send a sweet text to a friend or get on facetime with them. This helps me fill my love tank of positive affirmation. Everyone fills their love tank differently though so for some others this may be speaking with your grandparents or your spouse. There’s also some days where I truly find joy in taking a walk along the beach with my son or my husband. Or maybe my husband and I go on a date night to our favorite place. Find what makes you feel joy and do that, my friend!
Keeping joy in your heart isn’t going to just happen. It takes being intentional and loving to your mind and your spirit. To be grateful throughout your day to yourself and those around you!
