If you’re like me, finding time in the morning for skincare can feel like another added stressor to your life. Since becoming a mom, I was forced to simplify my morning regimen. The great news is, morning time skincare can be simple on its own!
I took my product list from a 10 step to a 5 step and I must say, I am a happy girl. This would be my go-to for a new mom or plainly a boss lady on the go! Below are four products I cannot live without:
Cleanser
Toner
Serum
Eye cream
Sunscreen
This is the minimum and I repeat minimum. You really do need all of these things in the morning. If you’re a new skincare lover- don’t feel discouraged. It’s more manageable than it looks.
Cleanser
After sleeping 6 to 8 hours (if my child is being nice), basking in a rich night mask and using intense serums, I wake up so happy for a refresher. I like to use a milk or cream cleanser in the morning unless I’ve gone to the gym then a gel preferred.
Toner
If I were stuck on an island and only could bring one skincare product, it would be toner. It really takes care of all my primary skin concerns. A hydrating toner keeps your skin glowing and balances your skin’s PH to somewhere around a 4.5. This then creates a nice pallet to lay your moisturizer, serums and eye creams.
My absolute favorite toner is the La Mer Treatment Lotion
Serum
Serums deliver a concentrated amount of active ingredients to the skin. My favorite type of morning serum includes vitamin c! Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that repels things that try to age you quickly. This acceleration of aging happens often due to sun exposure, pollutants, and stress. This is a step that I wouldn’t skip even on my most lethargic day. With all that being said, serums aid in hydration, firmness and reduce dark spots due to those beach days we all love.
Eye Cream
The under eye area may not be a concern to you yet, but it will be as you age. So it’s great to get in the habit of a regular eye cream application. Some of the thinnest skin on your body is around your eyes. This is why signs of aging typically reflect here like dark circles, bags, and puffiness. I always apply with an inward motion to help prevent wrinkles.
Sunscreen
There are many harmful UVA & UVB rays in the environment that can cause the skin to develop seen and unseen damage. Which then often advances into dangerous skin conditions over time. On top of the cancerous cells, it also creates wrinkles on the skin. Skipping this step is a big no-no. Ladies, this is your anti-aging insurance!
In the evening, I wash all these products off and move forward with my second routine of the day. Stay tuned for my step by step for night time!
