Favorite way to remove makeup

July 12, 2018 Beauty & Lifestyle, Skincare

Removing makeup typically happens for me at the end of the day. After I’ve sat in a little traffic and had just enough email action that my brain can handle.

As I’m sitting in the mirror, you can bet I’m analyzing what would be the quickest way to get my makeup off my skin.

Annnnndd that’s when most of us, like me, reach for the drug store makeup removing wipes and get to work.

Little do we realize those makeup wipes are horrible for the skin! Infested with preservatives, and harsh chemicals that are meant to clean the face but don’t. Instead, they just end up spreading everything around and creating bacterial issues for your pores.

Though I was never a HUGE fan of them, I did use them sometimes because my girlfriends would conveniently have them. Only later to regret my choice when a pimple emerged the next morning.

I finally came to my senses- there has to be an equally easy way to remove your makeup. In esthetics school I learned before you do any cleansing, you should always pre-cleanse the skin with something that has a healthy oil base prior.

This allows for a cleaner skin pallet and the cleanser you’re using can penetrate deeper resulting in a more complete cleanse.

One of my favorite oil cleansers right now is the Tatcha Cleansing Oil

Oil cleansing is something that is just now popular again. It’s become my favorite way of pre-cleansing because it doesn’t strip the skin and its an easy way to hydrate + balance the skin.

Oil attracts to oil and that’s why oil cleansing is effective! Cold creams, oil cleansers and makeup removing creams I feel are worth picking up on your next trip to Sephora.
